Urban Kinetics is a Personal Training Studio dedicated to providing space and cutting-edge equipment for Personal Trainers and their clients. We have been in the Personal Training and Health Club industry for approximately ten years. Urban Kinetics is a "co-op" of certified and experienced Trainers who utilize a variety of exercise tools and functional movement to train their clients.
Our trainers come to us from a variety of backgrounds and experiences: former Pacific Northwest Ballet dancer, NCAA Pole Vault Champ, World Ranked Javelin Thrower, US Professional Soccer player, as well as those who just have a passion for health. They desire to provide you with the highest quality of service while helping you reach your fitness goals safely and effectively.
All of our trainers are certified by a national recognized certifying body, have a minimum of five years experience and carry professional liability insurance.
Urban Kinetics' main focus is Functional Training. This type of training forces the individual to train his or her muscles in a manner demanded by the activity for which they are training. Movement and action are a result of acceleration and deceleration combined with the constant battle for stabilization. If the individual can train in an environment that closely resembles their activity, then their body will learn to better adapt to the specific forces
and stresses placed on it during the activity. This type of training can help reduce the risk of injury and increase overall performance.
In order to create well-balanced training programs, Urban Kinetics has chosen several multifunctional strength pieces including the Total Gym, free weights, Cybex FT 360's, Max Rack, balance discs, medicine balls, Swiss balls, etc...
Functional Strength Machines:
A functional machine should meet several of the following criteria:
- Has several levels of adjustability.
- Allow arms and/or legs to move independently.
- Has separate weight stacks for each affected body part.
- Allows movement through multiple planes of motion.
- Forces the body to stabilize itself during the execution of the movement.
- Allows performance of movements that are classified as closed chain.
Closed chain exercises are movements performed with at least one foot in contact with a surface, such as the floor or the machine's platform.
Urban Kinetics is committed to providing a non-intimidating environment that allows an individual to realize their fitness goals through safe, progressive, and result-oriented methods of training and rehabilitation.
