David Rea
ACE, ACSM

My background in strength conditioning and athletic movement began when I started taking ballet lessons at the age of seven. At age 16 I became a member of the Pennsylvania Ballet Company. Six years later I moved to Seattle to dance for the Pacific Northwest Ballet. In 1995 I retired from the ballet and enrolled in the Fitness Specialist Program at Lake Washington Technical College.

My goal was to become a personal trainer and incorporate the movement skills and knowledge I learned as a dancer with the technical training of the fitness program. I graduated in 1996 and in the same year received my American College of Sports Medicine Health and Fitness Instructor Certification as well as the ACE (American Counsel on Exercise) certification. While at Lake Washington Tech, I worked for a health club in Redmond. I personal trained and taught general conditioning classes.

In 1997, I began working for a local Seattle health club where I developed a strong base of clientele. Over the past several years I have developed "Urban Kinetics," an evolving series of strength and coordination exercises that utilize the participant's body weight as its resistance. My training sessions are creative, challenging, informative, and fun. Urban Kinetics has been in business for 7 years now and has grown to 20 personal trainers, part-time and full-time.
